RV AND AUTO REPAIR PLACES

Chaffee Tire - We noticed that the side walls on our Jeep tires were separating and took it to Chaffee to check it out.  We felt that they were very honest about our situation and didn't try to sell us tires.  They just gave us an honest appraisal of our tire situation.  Based on this, we went ahead and purchased tires and amazingly they actually had the very same tires we had on the Jeep in stock.  This were not what came with the Jeep and were larger than usual and all terrain - 10 ply tires.  Not cheap, that's for sure!  We didn't have an appointment and this is great off roading territory and they had us fixed up and out of there in just over an hour.  They were right near downtown so we were able to just walk around the shops and get lunch while waiting.  Great place for tires!

MONTANA

Great Falls
Fleet Maintenance Services was fabulous.  Our leveling jacks failed as all the fluid leaked out of the system due to a busted hose.  John drove to their facility when they opened on a Monday morning and they told him to bring the rig right over and they would get right on it.  They didn't have an open bay in their garage so they had to work on it outside but that allowed us to keep our generator running so we didn't have to unload our refrigerator!  By 1:00 pm it was all fixed and ready to go.  They not only got it fixed quickly but they got the repair approved through our extended service agreement so it only cost us $100.  The campground we stayed in when this occurred recommended them.

OKLAHOMA

Oklahoma City
Camping World of OKC has lost our service-related business.  They take forever to get the work done.  We've had to be out of our rig for lengthy periods of time on more than one occasion with this last one being a month.  During that month they physically worked on the rig 3 days.  After getting it back it appeared they had fixed all of our refrigerator problems but 2 weeks later it cratered.  It seems they forgot to put the venting louvers back in when they slide the refrigerator back into its space and this error caused the cooling unit to fail - a $2,500 fix!!!  Thank goodness our extended service agreement covered it when we took it to Leisure Time RV for the repair.  We will never use this facility or any other Camping World for service.  On a good note, they have a great supply store.

Leisure Time RV is our new go to place for repairs.  They diagnosed our problem with our refrigerator, priced the parts, got the approval from our extended service agreement and ordered the parts all in one day.  We were able to take our rig and returned with it the following week for the repair.  We were able to pick it up the following afternoon.  They were awesome to work with.

Rockport
Happy Trails RV Repair - We used these folks to fix our refrigerator and the job was never completed.  We have a Good Sam extended service agreement and they were not happy about working with them.  The fridge was not staying cold well.  It would warm up easily and take hours to cool down.  They replaced the door gaskets and that took two trips.  It has 4 doors and they were supposed to do the gaskets on the 2 fridge doors but instead did 1 fridge and 1 freezer door.  They resolved that.  In the meantime we questioned whether the propane was coming on as it should if switched to propane and whether or not the cooling fan was coming on when it should.  This story is too long to explain but after we made 3 calls and 3 trips to their office and they made 3 trips to us we haven't seen or heard from them since and it's been weeks.  The door gaskets didn't fix the problem, we have water leaks in the ice maker, the propane doesn't light when switched to propane and we're not sure about the cooling fan.  We feel that they have decided they don't want anything more to do with this job and hope we just go away, which we will.  When we return to Oklahoma we will take the unit to Camping World and hopefully they can get our issues resolved.

Minit Man 10 Minute Oil Change - 2610 Hwy 35 N., Rockport, TX.  I took the jeep in for an oil change recently and was quite pleased with their service.  They also had to change the air filter as well as the fluid in the differential.  I had a very short wait and they were willing to answer any questions I had.  I had brought a 10% off coupon for the oil change and instead they put it toward the most expensive item, which was the differential, saving me twice as much.

Rockport Auto Clinic – We had to use this business for a brake job in our Jeep upon arrival in Rockport for the winter.  These folks were wonderful to work with.  They got us in the day after we arrived even though they were going on vacation for a week the following day and would be closed.  For a variety of reasons the job took several hours, but they kept at it and got us back on the road for a reasonable price.  We would recommend them without question.
